ABOUT ME:
I'm Billbob Brown. BFA Dance at Arizona State; MA Dance History & Criticism at the U of New Mexico. I've been teaching in some capacity or other for about 42 years now: for about ten years as a dance artist-in-residence in Arizona K-12 schools across the state, from the cities to the reservations, from the borders to the canyons. I gave community-level classes while touring with Desert Dance Theatre, a company I founded in 1979 (residencies throughout Mexico) or with Buen Viaje Dancers in New Mexico (a group of people with disabilities - including a residency in Honolulu; our PBS special won an Emmy!). I gave classes through tours with the Bill Evans Dance Company (Japan/U.S.), or my own company, Chaos Theory Dance, and Sorvino Dance Project, a. ludwig co., or by myself or with amazing dance partners (residencies in England, Switzerland, Thailand, Harvard, Yale, Landmark College, Hampshire College, SUNY Purchase, Roger Williams College, Western Wyoming College, Western Illinois University, and many others).

I was a professor of dance for about 22 years at UMass Amherst (tenured), and its director for five of my years there; and was the Chair of Dance at the Hong Kong Academy of the Performing Arts for a year; I brought in some of the most famous artists to these places like Ohad Naharin's "Minus 16," Camille A. Brown, and dozens of others.
Over those years, I've choreographed perhaps hundreds and hundreds of dances; produced hundreds of concerts of all sizes, and along the way gained skills in design (digital and otherwise: video, graphic design, web stuff and stage effects).
I've been on numerous boards, helped be part of creating and/or scoring state-level teacher tests and so forth, but now, alas, in Tucson, having settled here, I am teaching...

...at Alta Vista High School, in Tucson. And what a gift this is, to be sharing knowledge with students, and sharing strategies with fellow teachers. We are learning a lot in this time of online learning.
I've lucky to be at a school that has pushed its teachers to experiment with online learning tools, and to find ways of assuring that (close to) 100% of our students are engaged at all times. So...we have something to offer!

So here we go! If you have ideas or knowledge or information that can help us all, please send them to me! We are still have much to teach each other!
